HIGHWAY CONNECTION

Durres Port is the primary market entry gate of Albania. Being the largest port of the country accessing the Adriatic Sea it becomes an advantageous alternative for neighbor landlocked countries such as Kosovo and Macedonia exploiting Durres Port logistics and maritime services. Albania’s key geographical position controlling the direct route network bridging south-western and south-eastern Europe makes Durres Port a major multimodal node to the main industrial centers of the country and the region in general. AIRPORT

AIRPORT CONNECTION

“MOTHER THERESA” INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OF TIRANA

A great analogy to the old Roman expression that “All roads lead to Rome” in Albania would be “All roads lead to Durres” considering that Durres city is the most important Albanian node of the multimodal transport. “Mother Theresa” International Airport of Tirana commonly referred to as “Rinas” International Airport, is located only 6 km northwest of Albania’s capital Tirana and 25 km from Durres city. The proximity to the main Albanian cities is another great advantage for all port operators and tourists interested in accessing Durres Port. From the “Mother Theresa” Airport alternatively bus, taxi or car rental services are easily accessible and it takes only 30-40 minutes drive depending on traffic. The route from the airport is straightforward from the “Rruga e Aeroportit” at the airport to the immediately accessible SH2 highway following the direction of Durres. Upon Durres arrival the signage “Port” indicates only a 200 m distance from Durres Port entrance Gate nr.4

Railway

RAILWAY CONNECTION

Durres Port docks are connected by railway to the national railway network and its local lines. This is an alternative and additional mode of transportation for stakeholders, port operators and potential maritime shippers to benefit from the efficiency, cost reduction and facilities at their disposal by the port-rail access when planning and scheduling their cargo traffic. The railway service is accessible at the Durres Port Eastern Terminal providing 24 hours of active operating system in freight transportation and hauling cargo. Located at the Durres Central Train Station, Gate Nr.3 overpass is the recommended itinerary for passengers and tourists bounding the railway platforms to the major maritime gate of the country to Europe and the rest of the world.
